Washington Island is located 7 miles north of the tip of the Door County Peninsula, about 90 miles northeast of Green Bay, Wisconsin; 180 miles north of Milwaukee; 270 miles from Chicago; and 320 miles from Minneapolis. To get to Washington Island, you take a 30-minute car ferry trip from the Northport Pier, located in Gills Rock at the northernmost end of Highway 42.
